One of the most anticipated video games for 2011 leaves this gamer scratching his head.
Modern Warfare was one of the biggest games to be released, and Modern Warfare 2 pushed gaming to new heights with the addition of things like kill streak rewards and weapon attachments. So naturally one should expect, with the release of a new sequel, Infinity Ward would keep the pace and make Modern Warfare 3 just insane, however, they seem to have run out of steam.
MW 3 seems to just be an updated Modern Warfare 2. It has new levels, new kill streak rewards, new weapon attachments, but it doesn’t have that huge improvement that MW 2 had from Modern Warfare. I still use the same weapons, kill streak rewards, and similar perks, because with the way that I play, the additions don’t really help me at all. It seems that in order to enjoy everything MW 3 has to offer, the player has to change the way they play, which is just silly. It seems to be lacking somehow, like I’ve been playing this game for the past year, because when it comes down to it, I kind of have.
By all means, don’t let this stop you from playing the game, it is still the Modern Warfare that is one of the highest grossing video game franchises of all time, but I, at least, was expecting more. The ratings are high according to other players, but given the lack of wow factor I experienced, I think I’ll be sticking to Gears of War 3 or Battlefield 3, where multiplayer is still entirely unpredictable.
